It's bulking time! |
My weight is currently fluctuating between 168 lbs and 173lbs. My 168 lbs is after a no carb/cardio day and 173 lbs after three straight weightlifting/carb days.
When I started I was at 164 lbs so that means I've gained 4 lbs thus far which is right on track with what I set out to do...gain 1 lb a week.
Happy that I can still see my abs :) |
As far as if the T2-Xtreme did anything, it is difficult for me to tell. Though I have stayed lean during this bulk, I'm not sure if I can contribute it to the intermittent fasting, my low carb days, the T2 or the combination of all of those things.
What I do know is that the effects are not significant enough for me to notice and so I would not purchase this product again.
Now that these 4 weeks are over, I'm going to start the Anabeta and use it for the next 8 weeks. I'm excited to see how my body will respond to the Anabeta!
How is everyone else's bulk going?
Christmas tree still present :) |

Hey Duong
Good start, it doesn't look like you've gained much, if any, body fat during the bulk. Have your lifts improved since you started increasing calories?
Hey Mark, I wish it wasn't ANY bodyfat gained but I can tell by the pics that my love handles have increased in size.
My lifts have been gradually increasing but nothing out of the ordinary.
Yeah, I guess so. Are you having a hard time accepting some fat gain after being so lean?
Also, I'm curious to see how your lifts progress considering the comment made by Prof. Andro's during the SuperHuman Radio interview, where he talks about how he doesn't think muscle building requires being hyper-caloric. I'm on the other side currently, as I'm cutting, and I'm interested to see if my lifts can go up like yours did during your cut.

Hey Duong, I know you said you were adding about 75 grams of carbs. Is this on workout days only or everyday? As always, thanks. Hunter
Haha yeah Mark, I believe I may be having a difficult time with fat gain. Even though I know gaining muscle with no fat is nearly impossible, I was hoping IF combined with the T2-Xtreme would work some magic :) but I guess not...
I also believe you don't need to be hypercaloric to gain strength...I do believe it is more of a requirement for muscle growth though, at least being hypercaloric some of the time.
Hunter, the 75 grams of carbs are on weightlifting days. On my non weightlifting days, I don't eat any carbs and just do cardio.
Hello again Duong. Do you include the carbs from your milk and protein shake before bed, or is the 75grm of carbs just from the food?
I actually don't drink any milk currently. I had cut it out during my cut and haven't missed it so I just never brought it back in.
I'm bulking right now so I'm not super meticulous with the macro counting...so to answer your question, no I don't include the carbs from protein shakes.
Hi Duong,
still looking more than awesome. Great progress and definitely minimal fat gains (love handles? sometimes its just some extra water - if there are major "love handle" difference from morning to evening its probably the latter ;-)... that being said, you have a major advantage over your previous bulks now, which is in fact your already low body fat percentage. It may sound unfair (good for you, though), but getting fat becomes much easier the fatter you already are, the reasons are partly hormonal, partly related to decreased insulin sensitivity, lower leptin sensitivity, etc.
btw: if you want (at some time) post a follow up on your "Student Spotlight", just let me know.
Thanks for the compliments Dr. Andro! I guess being hard on oneself is part of the game ;)
Hopefully that bulking when leaner thing will stay true throughout the bulk!
Maybe I can post a followup after this bulk?...we'll see how well it goes :)
I would be delighted if you did (post a follow up)
I am also working towards the last installments of the "Intermittent Thoughts" Series (I assume you will have noticed that one) and would love to have you, Adelfo and someone else (yet to be disclosed) provide some practical experience on sort of a roundtable discussion which aims at designing 2 (or 3) very concrete IF-regimen for leaning out and building muscle (dunno if we would decide that there should be one for "maintaining" ;-) I am still thinking how we could best do that (technically) and will let you know as soon as I got an idea ;)
I would be happy to participate in that roundtable :)
Just let me know when and what you need!
